Unlike before, couples nowadays have the luxury to choose their preferred theme - from the entourage to the flowers, cakes, decorations, invitation letters and even the color of the table linens and napkins used in the reception.

As an event organizer, it is vital for you to gather all the details needed and this includes who will sit next to the couple. It is your responsibility to keep the event as harmonious as possible.

Traditionally the newlywed couple is sat alone at a sweetheart table. However, it changed over time as they feel isolated from the rest of the crowd or guests.

Nowadays, the couple has the option to sit at the head table where they asked their attendants to join them.

Bridal Party Table

This is a rectangular or circular table where the maid/matron of honour and best man sits beside the groom and bride. Although the other attendants (bridesmaids & groomsmen) can sit at the head table if there are still space.

 

Traditional Seating Plan

The idea of the traditional seating plan is to honour the couple’s parents. Both parents will be sitting at the head table together with the best man and matron or maid of honour.

Sweetheart Seating Plan

This is a small table set up exclusively for the bride and groom at the wedding reception. The couple will sit together facing the guests. The attendants and families will have a separate table close to them.

A family table seating arrangement allows the couple to give honour to their parents by asking them to seat over to the head table along with the matron (maid) of honour and the best man.

Avoiding Potential Friction Between Bride and Groom's Parents

As oddly as it sounds, this wedding seating arrangement exists. The reason comes from the name itself this is to avoid potential friction between the couple's parents especially if they don't know each well or have not met before.

This seating arrangement will also avoid awkward feeling between each family.
