KNOWING YOUR BED SHEETS
Sheeting fabric is made up of fibres running in two directions at right angles to each other, known as the warp and the weft. The warp runs lengthwise and the weft runs across the width. The threads are combined during the weaving process.
What is?
Combed cotton is a method for preparing fibre for spinning by the use of combs. The combs used have long metal teeth, and only barely resemble the comb used on hair. However, they are used in a similar fashion with one comb holding the fibre while the other is moved through, slowly transferring the fibre to the moving comb.
Combing the fibres removes the short fibres and arranges the fibre in a flat bundle, with all the fibres going the same direction. This preparation is commonly used to spin a worsted yarn. Cotton is combed when it is to be used for high-quality counts. In general, combing is done with fibres that are longer, and carding with fibres of a shorter length.
Care Instructions
We recommend washing your bed linen separately and before use, in a cool/warm machine wash. Wash before are your bed linen has been handled during manufacturing and has been in a stored environment and therefore could be dusty.
Avoid chlorine bleach – While chlorine is a great stain remover and whitener, it can significantly reduce the life of your bed linen by damaging and weakening the fibres. Instead, use an oxygen-based bleach/whitener or spot-treat the stains. Avoid optical brighteners as this chemical can affect the whiteness of your bed linen.
